About Us
RDK Consulting,
Inc. (RDK) is a client-focused, full-service project management
firm headquartered in La Jolla, California. During the last ten
years, RDK has been involved in project management consulting with
San Diego and Riverside counties, various cities, and redevelopment
agencies throughout Southern California. We regularly serve as the
Owner's representative/project manager responsible for the design
and construction of various public and private/public sector projects.
In that capacity, we are responsible for communicating with all
levels of the public and private sector to achieve successful completion
of well over $150 million of in-place projects. Each project was
completed on time and within the pre-established budgets without
a single construction claim, with all change orders under 3% of
base contracts. Several of these projects are described below:
- The San Diego County Library
Capital Program with new libraries in Potrero,
Rancho
San Diego, Valley
Center, Cardiff-by-the-Sea,
and Spring
Valley. Development
began in the winter of 2000 with programming, architect selections,
community meetings and design initiation. In 2001 two branches
will be opened, with the remaining three under construction
to open in 2002. This $16 million new facility program will
improve the level of service throughout San Diego County with
needed state-of-the-art library services. These projects total
approximately 59,000 square feet of facilities and associated
site improvements. This five-building program will be completed
in less than 36 months from initiation through occupancy.
- The San Diego County Library
Proposition 14 Capital Program, with new libraries in Alpine,
Campo, Fallbrook, Julian and Ramona.
Development began in the fall of 2001 with programming, architect
selections, community meetings and design initiation. Two of
these branches were submitted for the June 14, 2002 first funding
cycle, with the remaining branch to be considered for submittal
in subsequent funding cycles. These projects total approximately
52,000 square feet of facilities and associated site improvements.
This four-building program will be completed in less than 36
months from initiation through occupancy.
- The Larson
Justice Center in Indio,
California, a $35 million, 12-courtroom criminal and civil courthouse
project. The project included the construction of a 700-foot
tunnel linking the basement holding areas with the existing
County jail. The project was completed in 24 months, with no
claims and change orders within the original CIP bond budget.
This project was completed under contract to the Riverside County
Board of Supervisors in 1997.
- The Jurupa
Valley, Hemet,
and Lake
Elsinore Sheriff's Stations
in Riverside County. This program developed three major
new area facilities and significantly upgraded the Riverside
County Sheriff's Department's community presence. Development
began in March 1997 with site selection for the Jurupa Valley
Station, a 40,000 square foot facility. This new $7.2 million
turnkey project, which opened in September 1998, included land
acquisition and infrastructure improvements for the new State
of California Crime Lab, in addition to area street improvements.
The Hemet Station followed with its completion in November 1999,
15 months after land acquisition. The Lake Elsinore Station
opened last year representing fulfillment of the facilities
development program. These projects were completed in 36 months,
with minimal change orders, each within the original project
budget. This program was expanded to include the Desert Forensic
Center in Indio, which opened recently, and the new Cabazon
Station, which is currently in the final design phase.
